Thank you so much, Pie.
It was an enjoyable, tactful class, as always, from the material based on the article "Are You a 'Chatterbox'?" that you kindly selected on August 22 2024.
As I mentioned in the lesson, Japanese use 'Big mouth' in daily conversation, but the meaning of this word is different from the English word as below.
- Big mouth in English: Talkativeness, revealing things that should not be revealed.
- Big mouth in Japanese: boasting / bluffing, trying to deceive someone about one's ability to do something.
Being a 'Chatterbox' is acceptable, but being a 'Big mouth' is not.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to taking your next class.

Thank you so much, Pie.
It was an enjoyable, tactful class, as always, from the material based on the article "Where in Europe Do People Work the Most?" that you kindly selected on August 20 2024.
At first, I thought that Germany is the country where people work the most in EU, because I read an article that Germany is 3rd highest ranked of GDP in the world according to the latest statistics data.
So, I was a little bit surprised to know the result that Turkish people work the most and German people work only 34 hours or less per week.
When it comes to Japanese workers, I suppose that the average working hours can be 45-50 hours per week. This value is higher than Turkey's 44 hours per week.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to taking your next class.

Thank you so much, Pie.
It was an enjoyable, tactful class, as always, from the material based on the article "Japanese Rice Prices on the Rise" that you kindly selected on August 19 2024.
As I said in the lesson, I regularly go to grocery stores to buy ingredients.
Lately, I've been looking for rice in grocery stores, but there are few bags of rice on the shelves.
I ended up buying only a small and expensive bag of rice.
The Japanese government has announced that new rice will be released next month, so I expect the panic buying to stop.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to taking your next class.

Thank you so much, Pie.
It was an enjoyable, tactful class, as always, from the material based on the article "Health Concerns as Japanese Kids Refuse To Drink Water" that you kindly selected on August 15 2024.

When I was a child, I thought that a bland drink like tea, a non-sugary soft drink, was worthless.
In general, tap water in urban areas is not as good as you might think. Meanwhile, tap water in rural areas is quite good.
I recommend Japanese kids to try the tap water in rural areas or bottled mineral water because the taste is good.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to taking your next class.

It was an enjoyable, tactful class, as always, from the material based on the article "Karaoke Experiment Explains Science of Embarrassment" that you kindly selected on August 14 2024.

When I was a child, I had a blushing face for the same reason written in this article.
It means that I feel embarrassed when I realize that I am socially exposed.
The older I get, the less likely I'm to blush, because I have gotten used to being exposed through my experience.
By the way, I wouldn't like to participate the research, because I have tone deaf.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to taking your next class.

Thank you so much, Pie.
It was an enjoyable, tactful class, as always, from the material based on the article "Japan's Elderly Staying Young: The Power of Social Interaction" that you kindly selected on August 13 2024.
As I mentioned in the lesson, "social activities" do not directly help Japanese seniors stay healthy.
They're able to share beneficial tips through "social activities", such as excellent doctors, hospitals, tips for keeping fit, and so on.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to taking your next class.

Thank you so much, Pie.
It was an enjoyable, tactful class, as always, from the material based on the article "Japan's New Smart Farming Law" that you kindly selected on August 9 2024.
I agree with the Japanese government's policy because Japan's food self-sufficiency rate is quite low.
Smart agriculture can strengthen the agricultural industry.
However, some evil companies may take advantage of the policy.
For instance, the companies may become middlemen, and the owners of the companies may waste the subsidies for themselves.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to taking your next class.

Thank you so much, Pie.
It was an enjoyable, tactful class, as always, from the material based on the article "The Power of Adaptability: Succeeding in Flexible Job Roles" that you kindly selected on August 2 2024.
I admit that "adaptability" is one of the most important factors for people who have the idea of changing jobs.
Even people who are good at getting along with other people may not show their adaptability in front of arrogant people.
So, I suggest that they find an another job.
I suppose that many people in Japan are less likely to prioritize the "adaptability" than "knowledge", "expertise".
I believe that "knowledge", "expertise" should be made much of for people, because the abilitiyes are valid valid under severe work enviroment.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to taking your next class.

Thank you so much, Pie.
It was an enjoyable, tactful class, as always, from the material based on the article "Study Names the World's Most Stressful Cities" that you kindly selected on July 25 2024.
For most Japanese, this is an unexpected result because they consider Athens capital in Greek has beautiful scenery. The elements that make a city stressful are described in the artile, such as quality of life, safety and pollution, etc.
Considering the other elements, such as traffic congestion, high population density, cost of living, and land prices, I suppose that Tokyo, the capital of Japan, is one of the top 30 most stressful cities.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to taking your next class.

It was an enjoyable, tactful class, as always, from the material based on the article "Fast Food Now a Luxury" that you kindly selected on July 24 2024.
I completely agree with the idea of the article.
Recently the prices of McDonalds Humberges have been increased.
As a result, there is a slight gap of prices between other competitors, such as MOS buger, Burger King and Mcdonalds.
So, I'd like to choose the products that are served in the competitors although they are a little bit expensive.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to taking your next class.

Thank you so much, Pie.
It was an enjoyable, tactful class, as always, from the material based on the article "Singapore Approves 16 Types of Insects as Food" that you kindly selected on July 22 2024.
As I mentioned in the lesson, this topic reminds me of the past trend of foods that use crickets.
Unfortunately, the company that makes the insect food went bankrupt a few months ago.
However, I appreciate newly invented foods, such as insects food, grasshoppers, cicadas, silkworms, and so on, because they have the potential to solve a food shortage problem.
I'm not sure whether the products will succeed or fail.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to taking your next class.

Thank you so much, Pie.
It was an enjoyable, tactful class, as always, from the material based on the article "'Osaka: A Foodie's Dream Destination" that you kindly selected on July 19 2024.
As I mentioned in the lesson, not only Osaka city but also other cities, such as Sapporo, Fukuoka cities are attractive in terms of unique cuisine. Of course, Tokyo city offers various kinds of food with the same quality, but the prices are relatively high. However, considering the cost of transportation such as train fare, it is not a bad idea to enjoy the meal in Tokyo.
When it comes to "Okonomiyaki", which is one of the soul foods in Japan, there is a controversial argument between Osaka style and Hiroshima style. I support the Hiroshima style, just because I like it.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to taking your next class.

Thank you so much, Pie.
It was an enjoyable, tactful class, as always, from the material based on the article "Tourists in Denmark Get Rewards for Going Green" that you kindly selected on July 17 2024.
I agree with the idea of "CopenPay" and hope that the similar service should be introduced in Japan.
In addition, I recommend that not only tourists but also citizens can apply for the service.
There are many point collectors in Japan. So they are likely to contribute to going green.
The "CopenPay" system does not require proof, but if the similar service starts in Japan, the system should require proof because some users may cheat the system to get profits.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to taking your next class.

Thank you so much, Pie.
It was an enjoyable, tactful class, as always, from the material based on the article "Simple, Sticky Soul Food: Why Japan Loves Onigiri" that you kindly selected on July 10 2024.
As I mentioned in the lesson, Onigiri - rice balls - are sold everywhere in Japan these days, such as convenience stores, grocery stores.
However, even the price of rice balls is increasing due to inflation. So I rarely buy them in stores and shops.
I tend to buy them at discounted prices only when the stores are about to close due to the end of business hours.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to taking your next class.

Thank you so much, Pie.
It was an enjoyable, tactful class, as always, from the material based on the article "Where Are Millionaires Going?" that you kindly selected on July 9 2024.
As I said in the lesson, I've heard that Dubai in UAE is the most popular city for millionaires in the world.
However, it does not mean the UAE but Dubai city which has the largest population in UAE.
I suppose other cities and in UAE has strict rules, laws and regulations because UAE is Islamic country.
If I were a millionaire and under 30-years old, I would like to live in Dubai.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to taking your next class.

It was an enjoyable, tactful class, as always, from the material based on the article "More People Choosing To Avoid the News" that you kindly selected on July 5 2024.
As I mentioned in the lesson, the people who read news online can choose their favorite news.
Meanwhile, people who watch TV news cannot choose their favorite news because the news is broadcast.
The former may not be objectively aware of what is happening in the world.
The latter can be objectively aware of what is happening in the world, so they may be depressed by the news.
Which is better?
Anyway, I'm looking forward to taking your next class.

Thank you so much, Pie.
It was an enjoyable, tactful class, as always, from the material based on the article "High School Students Trade Stocks in Okinawa" that you kindly selected on July 4 2024.
I agree with this experiment to get investimen literacy in the high school in Okinawa.
One of the disadvantages of this investment club is that the students may not focus on their classes, because they would become glad and sad by turns whennever the stock market fluctuaes.
As the article says, financial education will be mandatory in the near future, I appreciate this decision, because the knowledge of financial is the most practical in our lives.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to continuing the video in your next class.

Thank you so much, Pie.
It was an enjoyable, tactful class, as always, from the material based on the article "Student Syndrome: Causes and Solutions" that you kindly selected on July 1st 2024.

My impression after reading this topic is that not only students but also some of working adults have the similar syndrome, such as being a slob and procrastinate own tasks.
A paper that explained scientifically why people are likely to put off tasks until the last minute was released in 2006, but I haven't read it yet. The title of the paper is "Why are we researchers always under deadline?". It is written in Japanese only.
I read the other article that succinctly explained and summarize the paper. The root cause is that you can be more efficient than usual and you will be able to make it on time if you are on deadline and focus on your tasks more than usual.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to taking your next class.

Thank you so much, Pie.
It was an enjoyable, tactful class, as always, from the material based on the article "Canada's Quest for Cheaper Groceries" that you kindly selected on June 27 2024.
As I mentioned in the lesson, the price of some vegetables are fracuating whenever I go to groceries in Japan these days.
I guess that the biggest difference between Canada and Japan is that one particular company, Loblaws dominates the Canadian market. So, they can continue to be profitable.
Meanwhile, there are large retailers in Japan, such as AEON, IY, OK, etc., and they compete with each other. The competition brings benefits to consumers, even though there are some problems.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to taking your next class.
